Auðna is the national Technology- and Knowledge Transfer Office for all universities and foremost public research organizations in Iceland.

Auðna is owned by all seven universities of Iceland, the University Hospital, the University of Iceland's Science Park, the Federation of Icelandic Industries, the Food Science and Biotechnology Research and Innovation Institute and the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute.

Our non-profit organization is dedicated to empowering Iceland's scientific community by providing expert guidance on intellectual property rights, conducting analyses of market and patent landscapes, and fostering connections between groundbreaking research projects and potential investors, as well as the broader industry. We are committed to enhancing the societal impact of science and technology through commercialization efforts, both within Iceland and on a global scale.

Audna's service

Audna assists university students, inventors and scientific entrepreneurs in the analysis of research and inventions. Audna analyzes research and inventions with regard to patent eligibility and market potential. At Auðna, we provide advice regarding intellectual property protection and the establishment of start-up companies around practical scientific projects. Audna connects inventors and entrepreneurs with funding and the business world. We also provide information on project financing, including grants. Our goal is to help you transform your scientific work into innovation that benefits society. We are here to assist you and provide information.

Auðvarp – Innovation, science and us, is a forum for discussion and conversation in the field of technology transfer, innovation, science, business and good ideas. Interesting interviewees and a fun discussion of what we are dealing with.

What is knowledge and technology transfer?

Knowledge and technology transfer is the transfer of skills, knowledge, techniques and methods from universities and research institutes to operating companies or start-ups, which work on the further development, marketing and sale of new products, processes, methods, programs, materials or services to the public. During technology transfer, an agreement is made with a company for a license, sale and/or ownership in a company. Audna assist the scientific community in delivering inventions and practical research results to society in the form of solutions, value creation and increased competitiveness.
